26 May 2026
FC Porto announced the contract renewal of João Brandão until 2028, extending the Portuguese coach's connection to the club for two more seasons.
After leading FC Porto B to 5th place in Liga Portugal 2 in 2025/26, the best ranking among secondary teams in Portuguese professional football, João Brandão's work has been recognized in a season marked by the team's competitiveness and strong focus on youth development.
Last season, the 43-year-old coach launched several young talents into professional football, including André Miranda, Mateus Mide, Duarte Cunha, Yoan Pereira, Martim Chelmik and Eduardo Ferreira, reinforcing the club's youth development identity.
Throughout the season, the Porto coach's work was also recognized with the Liga Portugal 2 Coach of the Month award, given in February.
In statements released by the club, João Brandão stated that this renewal represents “the validation and recognition of the work” carried out in recent seasons, also highlighting the strong connection he feels to the blue and white emblem: “I am a coach who breathes FC Porto daily, with soul and heart.”
Linked to FC Porto since 2005/06, João Brandão returned to the club in 2024 to take on his first experience as head coach in senior football, after spells in countries such as Ukraine, Qatar, Brazil and Saudi Arabia, where he won several national and international titles.
With this renewal, João Brandão will continue to lead FC Porto B in the coming seasons.
